THE OWNERS OF RANCHO CECILIA
SCOTT BEHRENS & LIZ HART-BEHRENS
Scott Behrens and Elizabeth (Liz) Hart-Behrens are just a couple of crazy Gringos that set off to find some good surf on their sailboat "Ocean Lady" in 2004.
They sailed over 15,000 miles up and down the Pacific coast of California, Mexico and Central America with 2 dogs and a cat! They pulled into Nicaragua in the Spring of 2007 and fell in love with the country, the people and the surf! So they swallowed the anchor, bought land, sold the boat and starting building their little slice of paradise, Rancho Cecilia.

A family illness forces a quick sale of the property so the price has been lowered to almost raw land value.
Rancho Cecilia was built by Scott & Liz with the Casita del Bosque, their 1 bedroom home, as the first rental. This would have been in 2008. At that time most of the guests were traveling surfers and staying for weeks.
Then as San Juan del Sur became more known worldwide they moved into more nightly rentals. In 2012 they built the Jungle Cabanas so they could accommodate families and groups as the Cabanas were large studios that could be set up with a matrimonial size bed or up to three single size beds or two bunk beds.

They started doing more full service in 2012 and in 2013. Liz and Scott began offering their nutritionist, surfing and yoga instructions. Thus Rancho Cecilia Surf & Yoga Retreats became very popular.

Quite frankly Scott & Liz wanted to slow down so they phased in more nightly, weekly, monthly rentals. This works for them as they focus on health issues and such. There are many different types of business plans that can be incorporated into Rancho Cecilia.
San Juan del Sur is still in its early years of tourist development and we have been changing with the market changes.
Scott & Liz provided the surfing lessons & yoga training, but there are other instructors in town that could perform some of the hands on training.
